Here’s a good shot of Eric, Rick and Mike with Kanye while Spike Jonze was filming his new video recently somewhere in LaLa Land. I remember the guys were cast in the ‘Benjamins’ video when Spike was working with egomaniac Puff Daddy Combs. I was getting daily updates (on my landline – it was 1997) about how crazy the shit was. The shoot was one big party and pretty much all the Girl Skateboards dudes had little cameos. 12 years later: same deal, different egomaniac. Pretty rad shot, thanks Tone. I hear the video’s gonna be dope which is cool because Kanye’s new album sure isn’t. And I’m not hatin’ – I dig Kanye – but everyone blows it once in a while.

Ben Tour is a Modern man

You can’t actually walk around Vancouver and pretend that you haven’t been stoked on Ben Tour’s art – even if you didn’t realize it was his work you were looking at. He re-did the wall @ The Modern a while back and these pictures don’t do justice to the pieces. Keep it Fresh, Man

Our boy Martini (of DIPT fame) has opened up FRESHMAN a new, men’s-only shop a couple of doors down from the DIPT location. The build-in is hype: cherrywood (I think), a little lounge area complete with a couple of copies of Playboy, GQ, all that dude shit. Nice collegiate vibe to the store and tight boutique brands that aren’t being blown out all over the city. Martini and his team know their shit. FRESHMAN’s opening party is this Friday at the store and Pop Opera is hosting the afterparty in the VIP room. Really looking forward to this one.
