…do you think these guys were doing to dress like this? Holy Christ. I once read an interview with Melle Mel where he was talking about being fried to the gills with his crew at the Limelite (or some famous NYC club) sitting across the bar from Billy Idol and/or Gen X, who were on smack. And Russell Simmons was running around forcefeeding drugs to anyone who’d take ‘em. No wonder the scene imploded. But can you imagine being a fly on the wall back then? I’d give my eyeteeth for one night.

Keep it Fresh, Man

Our boy Martini (of DIPT fame) has opened up FRESHMAN a new, men’s-only shop a couple of doors down from the DIPT location. The build-in is hype: cherrywood (I think), a little lounge area complete with a couple of copies of Playboy, GQ, all that dude shit. Nice collegiate vibe to the store and tight boutique brands that aren’t being blown out all over the city. Martini and his team know their shit. FRESHMAN’s opening party is this Friday at the store and Pop Opera is hosting the afterparty in the VIP room. Really looking forward to this one.
